What is Peppol?

Peppol (a Non-Profit organization created by the OpenPeppol) is an e-delivery network that, enables exchanging Pre and Post-Award e-Documents within the jurisdictions. It has a simple four-corner methodology and a common invoice format to enable global interpretation in the Peppol network. It has three main components:

*Peppol Authority: It represents Country Peppol operations.

* Access Points: Accredited service providers that send and receive the documents on behalf of Suppliers and Buyers.

* End Users: Suppliers and buyers that are registered by the access points in the Peppol network.

The diagram below illustrates the standard Peppol cycle 4 corner model, a protocol commonly adopted by countries that have mandated the incorporation of Peppol.

How the Exchange Process Works

SML (Service Metadata Locator): A centralized service registers all Peppol access points and participant IDs in the Peppol network.

SMP(Service Metadata Publisher): It publishes metadata between Access points based on the relevant Peppol documents that are standardized by the Peppol specifications.

EURS(End User Statistic Reporting): It is a monthly report that states how many sender & receiver end users have exchanged documents within the monthly period. This report has to be created by the access points and shared with OpenPeppol.

TSR (Transaction Statistic Reporting): It is a monthly report that states how many transactions are sent & received by end users within the monthly period. This report has to be created by the access points and shared with OpenPeppol.
